THE PARTY NEXT DOOR

My home is a peaceful place

I love to sit on my porch and look out at the lake

The grandsons came over for a swim and to play

The campers next door really messed with our night and day

They partied hard and smoked, and drank

Made it a lot too loud for my end of the lake

I tried to keep the grandsons out of sight

Finally, the day turned into night

While on my porch, I  couldn’t believe the sight

I could see they had no clothes on in the moonlight

They were whooping and hollering, making lots of sounds

Kept hoping the game warden would come around

Hubby and I were so shook up

We decided we needed a coffee cup

It was about 2, and the party was still on

I heard all sorts of words I had never known

About 4, they crawled into their tents

By now, my patience  had been spent

I let an hour go by and let them fall asleep

Now they’re gonna find out what they did to me

Forgive me, neighbors, for what I’m about to do

You’re gonna hear a loud boom or two

I got my 20 and shot up in that tree

They came out stumbling and screaming

Just to see me and my 20 and that squirrel up in the tree

You can’t be shooting at this hour

We just got to sleep at four

Country folks don’t party all night long

We’re usually up at dawn

They called the popo

And told on me

Said I was shooting at them

Lead was falling from the trees

The sheriff said I could hunt on my land

I began to laugh and showed them my hand

They saw they couldn’t win

So they packed up, and all was quiet again

Fishin Granny

Granny was getting old and lived alone

Tired of working in the yard and at home

Got her coffee and sat in her swing

Looking at the lake she started to think

I’m gonna go fishing in that lake

It’s been awhile, I’m gonna take a break

Her Buddy used to take her everyday

They fished every creek and every bay

Now she does everything alone

She’s got to clean the minnow tank

By now, probably getting pretty rank!

She thought, I’ll go down to the minnow shack

Pick up the minnows and be right back

Maybe the girls will be there

They give lots more minnows and don’t care

Well, the old man is there with his net

4 dozen is what I’ll get

She took the bucket and went back home

Went down to the dock and loaded the boat

Took awhile just being me

Loaded up poles, jackets, paddles and seats

Got all ready and looked at my minnows

Well, that old tight wad hit a new low!

No where there’s 48

One by one she counted 38!

He cheated me was what she said!

I’d like to whop him up beside his head!

Granny was hot and her temper was flaring

She got to the store with her bucket she was carrying

She said, “ Here’s my receipt

Take the minnows back

I’m going across the street”

The lady took the minnows and told her to wait

She’d give her 2 times the 48

Granny knew when she saw the old man it was a sign

He was an old tight wad wasting her time!
