FAVORITE SHOES

Do you have old shoes

Just waiting to be worn

To that special place or event

To be reborn?

My shoes are special

They were chosen for each outfit

Whether pants, shorts, or a dress

They all had to match

For that perfect look and fit

My cousin called one day

And said, “Uncle” had passed

He was miles away, and I had to pack

My shoes and the rest had to match

This occasion called for my gold flats

Before I left, I looked on my pc

To find flowers or a small tree

No florist to be found near Uncle’s town

So I decided I would stop

On the way, at the nearest flower shop

I found a big, pretty, colorful plant

When planted, the boys would see

All my efforts I made for their dad and family

This was a B Y O P event

“Bring your own plant”

Now, back to my shoes of gold

I made it thru the funeral

And walked to the gravesite

Then I noticed a piece of my sole

Could it be that big of a hole?

Please don’t break apart now

As I sat and talked to the family

My shoe got loose and felt floppy

It’s come apart—what do I do?

Just drag on like it is a shoe

We said goodbyes and with a limp

I made it to the car and began to strip

Goodbye shoes, thanks for all these years

You will be remembered for today’s fears!
